Introduction

Alternative Character Battle is simply an alternative to GameFAQs' Character Battles but taking out the nonsense they do such as giving out prize money for lame predictions, letting in objects and leaving legitimate characters in the cold and having a character or twowinning most of the contest which prevents others from having a chance to win. The Alternative Character Battle has none of that and aims for a fairer tournament than what GameFAQs has to offer.

This is simply for fun and nothing else, except for possibly proving how much better an ordinary person could do with their own Character Battle contest than GameFAQs could.

How the Alternative Character Battle works

There are similarities to how GameFAQs' Character Battle system. For the Alternative Character Battle, you list 5 - 15 of your favourite game characters that apply and results will be tallied and the final bracket will be posted on on the 30th December. The first poll of the Alternative Character Battle will be on 2nd January.

The polls will be posted on this account's news posts everyday at 7PM EST/12AM GMT. Each poll will be open for 24 hours and the results will be tallied once the time is up. Obviously, the character with the most votes will go through to the next round. The amount of characters for each battle will depend on how many entrants have been submitted to this contest.

How to submit your entrants and vote in the polls

Post your 5 - 15 favourite video game characters to this news post. Please take note that any entrants that do not abide the rules will be rejected and the comment will be deleted. For the polls, just a simple comment saying Character A or Character B is enough.

Rules

1. The characters have to be ACTUAL characters, NOT objects. This means anything like L-Block and Weighted Companion Cube are not eligible for this contest. As long as it's a living thing or can do things on its own in the video game, any character (besides the forbidden ones) will do.

2. No license characters! This is strictly for VIDEO GAME CHARACTERS and not including your favourite footballer (British or American) or a character from a show that had a video game such as DuckTales or The Simpsons.

3. English names only. To reduce confusion, character names must be what they're called in English. The only exception is if they don't have an English name due to lack of release in English speaking countries.

4. The limit for the amount of characters from any franchise or video game is 4. Your submission cannot exceed that limit.

5. If the results receive too many characters from one video game/franchise, the characters will be narrowed down to 3 - 5 and the others will be left out. This is so the polls won't be flooded with characters from a single franchise such as Final Fantasy.

These are excluded from the Alternative Character Battle due to being a runner-up/winner for one of GameFAQs' contests or have been previous winners for Alternative Character Battle. As great as these characters may be, they'd only dominate the contest each time if they were allowed to participate.

Bahamut!

Some may declare this as biased considering I, Bahamut, ran the Alternative Character Battle myself, but considering Bahamut has never reached the finals in GameFAQs' Character Battles as well as being an actual character, the entry was legimitate as well as being the winner. I know about my username, but the entry still counted.

I'd like to say thanks to all who nominated characters at the start to get this up and running as well as those who voted in any of the polls, even if it was just the one. Due to how well things turned out and how much better this was than GameFAQ's Character Battles (any of them), I intend to run another contest sometime in the future with the same rules, except Bahamut won't be allowed to participate in any future events, except for specials.

Yes, I'm thinking of making some special tournaments as well, but whatever they'll be we'll have to wait and see. As for a second Alternative Character Battle, maybe during the same time GameFAQs hold the next Character Battle. I'll let you all know via news post on my main account or a little advertisement on the BBS.
